Air conditioning is a crucial element that should be considered during the architectural planning phase.

Building air conditioning systems include split units and central systems, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, the advantages of split and central air conditioning systems are combined in a concealed air conditioning system.

This concealed air conditioning system consists of two units:

The first is the indoor unit (fan), which is installed inside the building and connected to a ductwork system to distribute air throughout the space.

The second is the outdoor unit (compressor), which is installed outside the building and connected to the indoor unit via copper pipes.

In short, the concept of this air conditioning system is the same as a wall-mounted split system, which has an indoor and an outdoor fan. However, in a concealed system, the indoor unit (fan) is hidden within the false ceiling. The thermostat is also located in a specific position. Homeowners, often in collaboration with an air conditioning specialist, typically place the thermostat near light switches. This is incorrect. The thermostat should be located in the area designated for return air, as it accurately transmits the room temperature to the air conditioner. The air conditioner then operates according to this reading. Unfortunately, some people install the thermostat near the vents for blowing cold air, which causes a clear imbalance in the desired room temperature. The overall atmosphere will be closer to being hot due to the incorrect placement of the thermostat. Regarding the electricity consumption of a concealed system, it is approximately the same as a split air conditioner.

The advantages of concealed air conditioning are its quieter operation compared to a regular split system. This is due to the distance of the blower fans from the room being cooled, and they are usually installed in bathroom ceilings and nearby hallways.

It is cheaper than traditional central air conditioning. Installation is less expensive than central air conditioning, and it doesn’t require extensive ductwork. It ensures better and more even air distribution. It combines the advantages of both central and split systems. It also has an aesthetically pleasing appearance, as it conceals the units on the walls of interior spaces and replaces them with air vents (grilles).
